Not one single embryo killed for stem cell research EVER had the chance of becoming a full-fledged human. All of these embryos would have been destroyed anyway.

Only the possibility of of a "black market" in embryos (to meet an enlarging research demand) carries any real possibility of of a sustainable moral/ethical argument here. In the USA at least, I don't believe this would be a problem as the matter has received enough attention that government regulation could prevent most, if not all, illegal acquisition of embryos.

Having said that, I'll still breathe much easier if the whole issue can be avoided by using adult stem cells.

~Ed~Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8076218417451364964.post-54558153538876721842008-02-22T13:43:00.000-06:002008-02-22T13:43:00.000-06:00I want to add my thanks too.Hopefully the governme...I want to add my thanks too.

Hopefully the government can put more effort into the skin cells research and get away from the moral issues in using embryonic cells. Unfortunately it looks like there will be many years of work before it can be put into practice...Maybe they will have to wait for Allie to graduate and get to work on cells...It should be a great field to enter and be involved with!!!

Keep up the interesting posts and developments.

DadAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8076218417451364964.post-51904259923859971112008-02-21T04:51:00.000-06:002008-02-21T04:51:00.000-06:00Bill, I appreciate your taking a look at this. This is one topic, that early on, I had to do some digging to understand so that I could form my own opinion. The possibilities are amazing and I was so glad to hear the news that they had found a way to use skin cells instead of embryonic cells. It has been a bit quite on this since that announcement so I hope to hear soon that they are able to put this discovery into practice.

BillAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
