Yesterday, on Super Tuesday, Dr. James Dobson made a very strong statement on the nationally broadcast Laura Ingraham show (here in the Twin Cities it is on the Patriot, AM 1280). He again made clear that he would not support Senator McCain, but his comments go even further. Here are Dr. Dobson's personal comments about the reasons he cannot support Senator McCain:
"I am deeply disappointed the Republican Party seems poised to select a nominee who did not support a Constitutional amendment to protect the institution of marriage, voted for embryonic stem cell research to kill nascent human beings, opposed tax cuts that ended the marriage penalty, has little regard for freedom of speech, organized the Gang of 14 to preserve filibusters in judicial hearings, and has a legendary temper and often uses foul and obscene language.
I am convinced Sen. McCain is not a conservative, and in fact, has gone out of his way to stick his thumb in the eyes of those who are. He has sounded at times more like a member of the other party. McCain actually considered leaving the GOP caucus in 2001, and approached John Kerry about being Kerry's running mate in 2004. McCain also said publicly that Hillary Clinton would make a good president. Given these and many other concerns, a spoonful of sugar does NOT make the medicine go down. I cannot, and will not, vote for Sen. John McCain, as a matter of conscience.
But what a sad and melancholy decision this is for me and many other conservatives. Should Sen. McCain capture the nomination as many assume, I believe this general election will offer the worst choices for president in my lifetime. I certainly can't vote for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama based on their virulently anti-family policy positions. If these are the nominees in November, I simply will not cast a ballot for president for the first time in my life. These decisions are my personal views and do not represent the organization with which I am affiliated. They do reflect my deeply held convictions about the institution of the family, about moral and spiritual beliefs, and about the welfare of our country. " (emphasis supplied.)
So Dr. Dobson, perhaps the leading evangelical Christian voice in America, has clearly stated that he will not support or vote for Senator McCain because of his anti-family positions. This is yet another conservative voice, including Rush and David Limbaugh, Dennis Prager, George Will, and Charles Krauthamer, attacking Senator McCain. Senator McCain's response today was for conservatives to settle down. He will speak to conservative group CPAC tomorrow, and this will be interesting, as he snubbed their group last year. Stay tuned, the excitement is just starting!

After eight years of the worst Presidency in history, the mere thought of any of the REST of the GOP candidates winning the Oval Office is enough to make me start wondering if Canadian winters are really that bad.
For a populist liberal like me, McCain is the ONLY one of the Republicans running who won't finish the job W started of ruining our country. Study his voting record: He is still plenty conservative, just slightly less scary than the rest of the howling and depressing mob of right-wing, torch-wielding villagers.
With the survival of our great-grandchildren in doubt, it only makes sense to elect someone who will not continue to pursue policies of world-alienation and reckless endangerment of a fragile environment. Vote Democrat this fall...

Sounds like Canada is the right place for some. We are a country that needs to focus on family values and conservative government. With McCain, Clinton(s)/Obama we are in deep trouble. The liberals of this country are going to drive capitalism and family values into the ground. With a world with terroristic threats, the last thing we need is a liberal as president that is going to feed into their cause and destroy our great country.
What are we conservatives going to do??

Just a quick note on your post, I listened to Prager on Super Tue. and while he was pulling for Romney, he was going out of his way to say he will fully support McCain when he is the nominee. He was not condemning McCain as some other hosts were doing.

Yow! And now Governor Romney has dropped out of the race. I know he was spending his own money, but I thought the criticism of Senator McCain was starting to get some traction. Why didn't he stay in a little longer? Oh well, as Bryan mentioned about Dennis Prager said: support the Republican candidate, even if it is Senator McCain. The Supreme Court appointments and the War against Terrorism are too important right now.
While I understand the appointments etc, it seems to make sense to me to have the democrats run the country for 4 years so that the conservatives get angry enough to put out a solid conservative for the next election. It will be interesting who McCain selects as VP. Some have suggested that he may go to Lieberman. Now how does that make you feel? I totally agree with Bryan, no matter who is elected, God is sovereign and in control. With this we can rest assured.
